On May 30th, Chinas Ambassador to the Philippines, Jing Quan, stated in Manila that he hoped all Chinese citizens would unite and work together to protect their own safety. Chinese people are not easy to bully.
He said, We must ensure that the overseas Chinese who come here to work and live can live in peace and security every day. Our responsibility, as our embassy, is to make relations between the two countries more stable, and to create a favorable environment for people to live and do business. But I hope that all of us, including Chinese citizens, overseas Chinese, and their associations, will unite together and work hard to protect our own safety, fulfill our responsibilities, and safeguard the legal rights of our Chinese citizens and overseas Chinese here.
Jingquan pointed out that there are some forces who want to undermine China-Filipino relations, who want to target Chinese citizens and bully us, the Chinese people. We must say no to them firmly and loudly. We must make these people understand that the Chinese people cannot be bullied. They must realize that anyone who bullies the Chinese will face serious consequences.
