Japanese PMs India Trip: Modi Calls Abe Sister, Koike Seeks Brotherly Bond

From July 1st to 3rd, Japanese Prime Minister Yukie Akamine visited India.

According to reports by the Indian New Delhi Television (NDTV) on the 2nd, Indian Prime Minister Modi referred to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe as 'my sister' twice.

Sources familiar with the matter revealed that this title is related to a conversation between the two people before this.

According to reports, during the meeting between the two on that day, Koike Ayako mentioned that she has always regarded former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe as her ‘older brother’. Since she is younger than him, she also added that she now regards Prime Minister Modi as her own ‘older brother’.

According to reports, during the visit, Koike Yayoi and Modi will attend events together with representatives of the business community. Currently, approximately 1,400 Japanese companies are operating businesses in India, nearly half of which are involved in manufacturing.

It is worth mentioning that last year, Modi visited Tokyo, and Japan promised to increase its investment in India by more than 61 billion US dollars over the next decade, further strengthening the economic and trade relations between the two countries.
